The experimentation with Washi paper didn't progress as hoped. In January 2024, I called the Shimane government office and discovered an opportunity to make Washi paper under the guidance of Sekishu Washi artisans. I was set to participate for a month in February 2024.
They're dedicated to passing on traditions to the next generation and growing just enough raw materials themselves to foster an environmentally friendly lifestyle. I'm eager to learn not only the traditional techniques but also a lifestyle that harmonizes with nature.
Twelve years have passed since the 2012 installation. Thanks to those around me, I've been able to continue my exploration of Fondue. Thank you. It's about time to bring it to completion.
After convincing my utterly unenthusiastic wife, who was born and raised in Tokyo, and my Pokémon-crazed daughter, we'll spend a month together in Shimane making Washi paper.
